  • How do you do writing sprints?
I use: tomato-timer.com, and I use the basic 25/5 or 25/10 for a longer rest. I set the bell tone I want and tell it to go continuously (that's "auto start" under settings). I get myself ready, close out wasting time tabs, open my document, make sure I have my water by my side, and press "start." Then I do my 5 or 6 sprints and usually am done for the day. The break may seem excessive, but it's what works best for me after lots of trial and error. I feel like I'm productive enough to justify it (anyway, without it I'd be getting nothing done lol). If you want to stay away from your screen (or only have your work pulled up), consider getting a timer... Source: over 2 years ago
  • A message of encouragement from somebody who just submitted their thesis after YEARS of living in a nightmare.
I'd also suggest taking stock of what your weaknesses are and spending a limited amount of time trying out different tools that can help. For example, if you know that you thrive when you have a routine, then you could use something like Strategr to plan your typical weekday and then keep it open on the side of your screen. As another example, if you get demotivated and beat yourself up for not working enough,... Source: almost 3 years ago
