  You can set up a cracked server. Your daughter can play using a launcher like tlauncher (https://tlauncher.org/en/). Not sure if you have such a setting in the official minecraft server, but you can turn online mode off, just search for such a setting in the config file. If you cant do that, you can set up the server in aternos, its got a simple ui and for 2 people its more than enough, just make sure you set up... Source: 11 months ago

  I ran tlauncher from https://tlauncher.org/en/ through https://www.virustotal.com and it was fine but the file I downloaded through the site you linked had trogenware. Source: over 1 year ago

  I have been using tlauncher for over 2 years now on mac and windows and not a single issue has arised. I even scanned it and it was fine! The only reason why people say it gives viruses is because it makes your pc more susceptible to viruses and hackers if you are on servers escpecially.   Here is a link to Modloader for MCb173. It needs adding directly into the minecraft.jar file, however if you use a launcher like MultiMC, which you can find here: https://multimc.org/ then there is an option to 'add to minecraft jar file' which does the same thing. Source: 11 months ago

  I used to have this issue lots, and it was due to my internet being too restrictive. The Minecraft Launcher was refusing to open, and I fixed it by messing with the restrictions until it worked. Hopefully this helps :) if all else fails of course, try just reinstalling it! I’m sure that all your config files don’t get affected by reinstalling it, but just in case make a backup.
