  • Dark UX doesn't work in the long run
I just want to vent here a bit: Feedly is the only app I ditched because I did not understand the interface. AT ALL. I tried multiple times, like really hard, over the course of 2-3 years, and all it delivered was a feeling of being insanely stupid. I started my attempts around 2012 (kind of around Google killing Reader). I could not understand if that app even deliver that same functionality as Reader, could not... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Ask HN: How do you organize your life?
Write things down! All the weird things and ideas, put them into categories and write them down. This categories can also have a to do list. Use some kind of calendar. Try to not read the news on the internet too much. Use a RSS reader. Notes: Simplenote https://simplenote.com/ I use it with nvpy on Linux https://pypi.org/project/nvpy/ Calendar: https://www.rainlendar.net/ Tiny Tiny RSS Reader for selfhosting:... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Post Will Not Go Viral
    > I want to host my own RSS server though and then maybe use a native reader to view it, like an RSS of RSS feeds. I've been using Tiny Tiny RSS to do this for years. It works very well. https://tt-rss.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago

  • Reddit restored the last six months of my comments after I deleted them with shreddit. They also deleted everything older that I had saved.
I would recommend Tiny Tiny RSS or FreshRSS as examples but you can use anything you want, there's plenty of them. Why would you want to pay for something like this? Source: 11 months ago

  • Where do you keep your notes/translations when reading physical books?
If you don't like the process of making the cards, you could try exporting the words or sentences from kindle into Anki. I like to use clippings.io. These were some of my highlights from The Little Prince. Unsurprisngly there's also a DeepL add-on for Anki for mass translations. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Remove duplicate highlight entries in your "My Clippings.txt"!
I used my yesterday's evening to create a small JS script to remove automatically more than 90% of duplicate entries (at least for me :P). As far as I know, there isn't any working script/program to do this with the latest kindles or nothing maintained anymore (if there is, tell me). Also, clippings.io doesn't do anything with their promised "deduplication", so I created this makeshift way of more or less cleanly... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Considering buying a kindle
I was originally "anti-Kindle" (well anti-Amazon tbh) and loyal to a proper paperback/hardback book. When I had to do lots of business travel I tried a Kindle (Voyage) and I'm fully converted. It's not just having all books on one device, it's that the battery last for ages, it's fairly robust (I treat it badly - thrown in travel bag etc) and it still survives...but, the huge thing for me was Wiki, Dictionary and... • Is there a difference between myclippings.txt on a Kindle 7th Gen and 11th Gen?
Are all tools /websites compatible such as clippings.io? Source: about 2 years ago
  • Import to Evernote/Keep
In the past I used clippings.io to import "My Clippings.txt" and then to export to Evernote, sadly the author went nuts and now charges in Russian gold. Source: about 2 years ago
