Also, something I would suggest for troubleshooting the Bluetooth side, you can boot up a Live ISO of the latest Ubuntu (or other Linux OS) and you should be able to get in and test whether or not you can connect the controller over Bluetooth before you do an upgrade that may or may not help your issue.
