  The reason which made me curious in the first place was that I could not compile a document successfully which, however, was possible on my Windows machine where I have installed texlive using the online installer of tug.org.   For a conversion to an e-book, it is possible to take a trip through (La)TeX and TeX4ht, or use Pandoc, which is pretty good at converting from Markdown to HTML (better than between, say, HTML and LaTeX).   Otherwise, your best bet is to use a 3rd party service (like proboards.com - I hope its ok I posted that link, im not affiliated with it) and then just link to it from your website. that would the less hassle way. Source: about 2 years ago
