A genuine question: why is it that most open source email clients have websites that look like they were put together by Tim Berners Lee, as a test of "this web thing"? Here is another one https://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago

I had have a little problem recently with the email dates in the app, some emails do not show a date, says "(no date)", or somehow show the date with wrong format, ie, "17-Abr-2021". Tried to look for help in the program page https://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/ but the forums and wiki are full of spam. Source: about 3 years ago

I've rebooted quite a few times. Updated the app too. I don't use a VPN. I installed k9-mail to test and that works without problems. https://github.com/k9mail/k-9. Source: over 2 years ago
On Android the usual recommendations are FairEmail or K-9 Mail. Both are fully open source and privacy focused, it basically comes down to your personal preference. For them to work with your Google Account you will probably have to create an app password. Source: about 3 years ago
