Also check out Occipital. They have a little device (Structure sensor pro) that is clipped on to an iPad and also uses structured light. The resolution is really good and they also have the software to scan for protheses. They claim to be able to 'achieve fast, accurate and reliable medical-grade human body measurements.' Ok I'm not Raph but, FWIW, my 3d sculpting app is written using SwiftUI (https://sculptura.app), which is not a view around a database (in fact it was previously UIKit... SwiftUI is so much better).
