  1. A great password management tool

I moved from 1Password to Bitwarden about half a year ago. I never looked back, and I've never missed anything. The UI might be a touch clunkier than 1Password, but it's still good and perfectly usable on the whole. What is more, it is open-source and people can inspect its code.

  • Ask HN: Best Password Manager without cloud login?
I followed a similar path as you did about a year ago. Having tried a bunch of options, I can recommend strongly Strongbox - fantastic native apps for iOS and macOS, with your choice of sync mechanism (local-only is also a first class citizen), and it uses the KeePass file format so you can use your client of choice on other operating systems/no worries about lock-in. Good system integration and autofill... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • 1Password 8 has been formatting dates incorrectly for over a year
I've been wanting to spend more time trying out Strongbox[1], personally. It's only available for Apple (macOS, iOS, and iPadOS) devices, which rules out the 1% of the time I use an oddball Linux or Windows desktop, but it's a bit more reminiscent of old 1Password UIs with less of the dismissive attitude that I've gotten from 1Password's support team over the last couple years. • Amazon Account with unauthorised purchases, did my google passwords get leaked
First it's good to use a password manager, however it's not a good idea to use the one built into your browser. I would suggest switching to BitWarden or similar (not LastPass). Source: 5 months ago
  • Did I mess up?
I just noticed today when relogging in on Bitwarden (I couldn't sync my vault) that it said "Logged in as [email] on __$2__" instead of "Logged in as [email] on bitwarden.com". I don't know why or how that happened, and I have no idea what it means. Did I screw up somehow? Just to be clear, I did login and just after I logged in my brain realized that it said "__$2__" instead of what it should say. Source: 5 months ago
