  • Overreliance on Slack/Microsoft Teams
Organizations not using Slack or Microsoft Teams might find limited benefits, as Geekbot's primary functionality is heavily dependent on these platforms.

  • Designed for modern work by distributed work experts: Steady is the only tool purpose-built for modern, distributed work, created by a team with decades of experience in leading remote companies like Basecamp and GitLab.
  • Contextualizes hard data with human data: Steady combines hard data with human-generated intentions and assessments, using AI to produce summaries about both what happened and what will happen.
  • Adds structure to communication: Steady standardizes async communication into clear, structured plans, progress updates, and help requests, eliminating the need for costly synchronous meetings.
  • Runs in the background: Steady works continuously, distilling plans and progress from tools, teams, and people into tailored summaries and insights while you sleep.
  • Tells the future: Unlike other tools that only report on past events, Steady gathers human intentions to forecast what’s going to happen and allow teams and people to take proactive rather than reactive approaches to their work.
  • It's an umbrella app, not an everything app: Steady integrates with existing tools, contextualizing their data without trying to replace them, focusing on data distillation and readership rather than meaningless "engagement" within a walled garden.
  • AI value without requiring AI expertise: Steady’s AI features, like “Echos,” work in the background and on a schedule, providing value without requiring users to become prompt engineers.

What's the story behind your product?

Steady's answer

Our Roots: Status Hero A few years ago, Steady founder and CEO Henry Poydar found himself running a large systems integration project at a public company, faced with the never-ending challenge of keeping a distributed team aligned amidst information overload. This led to the creation of Status Hero—an app designed to help teams stay on top of what matters without endless meetings. Despite its success, cross-team alignment remained an unsolved problem.

Steady Launches Determined to solve the challenges of modern work across multiple teams, Henry raised initial funding, assembled a team of distributed work experts, and built “Status Hero 2.0,” now known as Steady. Steady provides managers and contributors with personalized home screens, delivering the exact context they need without sacrificing valuable work time.

Continuous Coordination Steady is built on Continuous Coordination, a proven, open-source practice that prioritizes meaningful human collaboration and empowers teams. When you adopt Steady, you're implementing Continuous Coordination.

Leadership Led by founder Henry Poydar, the Steady team brings decades of experience from remote pioneers like GitLab and Basecamp. We use Steady every day to stay connected and work better together.

  • Agile / Scrum
We run standups every day, however only 2x of them are a Teams call. The other 3 are run using a tool called Geekbot (Yes scrum masters do hate this) which is basically just a chatbot that sends you the standard standup questions and you can answer whenever you feel like it. This has helped our team heaps due to having such a huge mix of people in our team (Cloud Eng, Database Eng, Software Eng, Network Eng) that... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What do you really think of your daily standup?
My new job recently pulled in https://geekbot.com/ to handle stand ups. Answer a couple basic questions when you login, and they’re all sent to a central channel. I’m not big on that type of communication in general, but it takes maybe 30 seconds each morning. Source: about 2 years ago
  • As an IC, is there anything I can do about super cheerful team members using up meetings time?
We use Geekbot to help standups. The feedback from each dev goes into a channel, then we talk about things that need to be addressed or things we're working on. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Scrum Has Failed the Developers
Back in 2005, I remember working on startups running on Scrum principles. It worked well at the time, we where able to ship, grow the team, and move forward with a nice few-features-per-week cadence, working remotely, on a small team; less than 10. Tt always worked fine, but very slow, as all-dev-things were at the time. I worked with ActiveColab in 2007, Skype 2007, Yammer 2009, Trello 2011, Pivotal Tracker 2013,... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
