Toast uses SSL. So does Stripe (https://stripe.com/) and so does Square (https://squareup.com/us/en/payments). Everybody, without fail now uses HTTPS (SSL), they really do. That ship sailed. If you use the Chrome web browser, anything not serving up puppy pictures over HTTPS says "Not Secure" for the last HALF DECADE. If you google "PCI compliance" it's literally THE LAW that it is required for handling... Source: 11 months ago

Well, that is precisely the competition that Apple is trying to eliminate. If you look at Square, the company alluded to in the article, they are probably the largest PoS hardware and software provider in that space. Apple is trying to eliminate the need for a separate device by developing software that leverages on existing available hardware that they sell. It’s a pretty good idea. But, as I’ve said, the use... Obviously forums aren't as popular as they used to be, so this topic might not be of interest to many. For folks that want to run a forum, they'd most certainly go with Discourse (Ruby), Flarum (PHP), Xenforo (PHP), NodeBB (Javascript), Nimforum (Nim) and maybe Casnode (Go). Source: about 1 year ago
For something simple, I'd look into bbpress. For something more complex (but that can still integrate with WordPress, check out Xenforo (my favorite) or Vanilla. Source: over 1 year ago
Obligatory Lobsters[0] link. You may know it well already though. If you really need to scratch that itch, maybe start your own community based around those topics? I wouldn't build it from scratch though, and use something like XenForo[1]. The web needs more forums, there's not enough of them around!
