Hey guys just want to say the link is https://squabblr.co, not squabblr.com. I made the classic mistake on my own website! - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Https://squabblr.co/ was created some time ago. It is portal very similar to reddit. But recently its owner declared that he is not supporting LGBTQ+ and that Squabblr will be free speech portal (it doesn't mean that he will block content which is pro LGBT, it jus that he doesn't want to block content which is not). Of course many users go mad, screaming that it ruined site, that it is now some fascists hellhole -... Source: 10 months ago
Hey everyone, I've created a social media platform that lets your "tweet," but also have in-depth conversations with Reddit (and Hacker News) style commenting system. This allows you to tweet short blurbs of whatever you're thinking, or create long posts and have better and more in-depth conversations. So after today, I will no longer be moderating this subreddit however that does not mean you will not see me again as I will be participating on the Discord and carry on moderating Kbin. What's the criteria you'd need to be met for "something comparable"? Because I'd say running our own https://saidit.net/ site would be pretty identical. Source: almost 1 year ago
I love IRC but it serves a slightly different purpose. It isn't threaded and it sacrifices permanency for instantaneousness. In my opinion, a forums and chat rooms compliment each other. Saidit is one good Reddit alternative that implements IRC. It's based on Reddit's code but with some modifications. Every page has an embedded IRC box specific to that subcommunity. For Reddit alternatives, it looks like https://saidit.net/ (https://github.com/libertysoft3/saidit) and https://phuks.co/ (https://github.com/Phuks-co/throat) could be viable alternatives. They're open source, have the UX features we desire (threaded, voting, sorting, collapsing). Source: almost 1 year ago
Someone already did it - it's called saidit and it works well but very few people have gone there so far. Source: almost 1 year ago
