Soundtrap Reviews

  1. Beginner-Friendly

Really, really good for beginners. A variety of instruments and free sounds all on the browser for free! (Though some of the instruments and sounds require payment per month to use). Great site, although I wish there was a little more instruments that I could use in my music. But that's my only issue with it. If you're looking for a program to start making music, Soundtrap is the answer. So good, and would recommend 100% to anyone who wants an easy to learn music program.

You might want to sequence everything on Blender (www.blender.org) and make the audio on soundtrap (soundtrap.com). Make sure it all syncs up and then combine the image sequence and audio on blenders video sequencer. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What site/app can I use where I can record/ edit inside of and someone else can log in and finish editing.
I taught a lot virtual podcasting for middle schoolers over the pandemic and we used soundtrap.com, which is spotify's DAW and is on a browser (so its super accessible). It's certainly not the best DAW, but worked great for collaboration. Source: about 2 years ago

To "live DJ" there's the extremely famous https://virtualdj.com/ To create prerecorded DJ sets https://www.mixmeister.com/ Been using both for at least 10 years, love them both. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago

Not open source, but free for "home use" https://virtualdj.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Can you help me to start?
I started with Virtual DJ to get used to the software latency (I came from turntables) and get my muscle memory on button locations (which is why I stayed with the same brand). VDJ has every feature you need. The software is free to use without a controller from virtualdj.com. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Music & video playlists at Oz/Goodfriends/etc
A lot of the places that do it from scratch I notice use https://virtualdj.com/. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • A-B Looping software for background music in D&D/RPG games?
DJ software, like VirtualDJ will have features that are more conducive to what you're trying to do, like live looping functions that help you lock the loop to the beat. It's also cheaper (free for non-commercial use without a hardware controller) than QLab, and it's cross-platform (QLab is Mac-only, if that matters). Source: about 2 years ago
