Also, while anti-virus software is useful on computers, I would recommend not using them if you can as they can be very privacy invasive. Windows already has an AV program built-in which is actually decent now, and MacOS has three layers of protection to protect your Mac from malware. Disable all of your chrome extensions one by one to see if you can find the culprit. Run adwcleaner from Malwarebytes (https://malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/) in the settings make sure the switch to reset the hosts file is enablee, then hitmanpro (https://www.sophos.com/en-us/free-tools/hitmanpro).
