  • Confessions of a game dev...
The main problem is with the tooling: most E2E tests (which is what you want) tools are targeted towards webdev. So they drive or simulate a webbrowser. For real UI you have to hope you have some library available like UI Automation or use something like Sikuli. Or whip up your own solution by using something like OpenCV to check things on the screen and whatever language you're using to send inputs. In any case... Source: 6 months ago
  • Am i the only one thinking that desktop application automation is a bad idea
Have you tried screenshot based automation with something like Sikuli? Instead of trying to find IDs or whatever it will look for elements based on what they look like or for text. You could also implement it in whatever language you use with OpenCV. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [request] OCR app that can search my screen for particular text
SikuliX can search the screen for text, images or even objects (buttons). It also has an automation feature. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Can godot be used for projects which affect your computer?
But for free automated tested I have had good luck with SikuliX. Docs are not great, but it comes with computer vision, text recoginition, mouse and keyboard interaction, can load external applications while running etc. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Shortcut for rotating canvas by 15° left or right without a mouse
I don't like using my mouse while drawing and I couldn't find how to do this anywhere, but luckily when I was about to give up I achieved it! So, for this you'll need a program called SharpKeys. You can download it here: https://github.com/randyrants/sharpkeys/. Source: 6 months ago
  • Caps Lock Behaviour Disabled in Gnome
Sharpkeys can swap keys, the readme says as much: > Things that SharpKeys will do: > ... > Allow you to swap two keys with each other - e.g. You can swap Left Windows with Left Control and vice versa I do have a vague recollection of Sharpkeys previously saying that it couldn’t, but that I tried and it worked. Long time since I last used Windows though. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Total Commander
    > Total commander isn’t FOSS. I'm aware of that. There are lots of FOSS equivalents, though. Including, I believe, on Windows. Wikipedia lists 23 of which I think -- haven't checked -- the majority are FOSS. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_manager#Orthodox_file_managers > Ironically windows 11 can’t do vertical taskbars. True. Easily fixed with Explorer Patcher, though. Which, ironically, is FOSS. > And... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
