  I'd have to circle back and look again because it's been a few years. I was able to get Zoneminder to do 95% of what I wanted even if it felt a bit clunky.   Have I got the software for you! Shinobi is the solution! Simple setup! Ninja easy! Sexy interface? Check. Easy setup? Yep. More than 4 camera streams at once? You got it. It has an optional remote monitoring feature that shows the usual stats as a small bar under the active terminal window. It's a windows only application though.
