  • The customer stuck due to a hurricane who needed SSH
Web based ssh could have solved that issue, e.g. [0]. [0]: https://shellngn.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • I plan to do this every month. What is your favorite new self-hosting tool/software you have learned about this month?
Definitely Shell NGN. I run Proxmox with a ton of LXC containers, it is totally awesome to be able to have all the ssh keys stored and be able to connect automatically to whatever container I need to. Have it behind NPM and authelia. Can access my server from anywhere on the globe. It is coded with responsive design so you can get a terminal up in your phone browser. Bomb! • Warpgate v0.2 is out - a smart SSH bastion that works with any SSH client
I don't mean a standalone client. I mean something integrated with warpgate so credentials and other host configurations can be remembered by the bastion host and you can have unified credentials to access all hosts. I'm kind of imagining something like an open-source version of ShellNGN. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • best ssh client
Then you're in the right place. An SSH client allows you to use a secure shell to connect with remote systems. It is used most often for remote command-line execution and log in. An SSH client is a tool that I use daily to securely access servers, routers, switches, and other systems. Many SSH programs are available, most of which are free. However, there are some paid programs that offer more advanced features.... Source: over 2 years ago

  • what terminal emulator would you recommend?
Wezterm is pretty good, I've been using it for a long time without any issues. The feature set is honestly huge and I'm probably using 10% of the capabilities, but I like having a lot of options. Source: 5 months ago
  • Terminal emulators that break from the traditional rendering approach?
And my own humble entry in this space is wezterm: https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm which has a decent population of users in Japan and a handful of arabic/RTL users for the unfinished bidi support. Source: 11 months ago
  • Switching from Emacs. My experience
Either Wezterm OR Window-terminal I Personally use WindowTERM with alacritty * when needed Since WindowTerm has some weird ncurses issues ,. Source: 11 months ago
  • Terminal app built over WebGPU, WebAssembly and Rust
AFAIK wezterm[1] and warp[2] are built on top of the WebGPU [1] https://wezfurlong.org/wezterm/ [2] https://www.warp.dev. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • 📽️ Warp: The AI-Powered Rust-based Terminal
WezTerm is another terminal you could consider, but it is very different than Warp. It is also built using rust. The config is in lua (like Neovim). It has built-in font fallback and font ligatures. It also has a built-in multiplexer, but I've not tried it yet. It does not have any of the block or AI features that Warp does. Source: 12 months ago
