You could play a big chunk of the first one online for free at https://shapez.io/ to see if you like the core of the game at no risk (iirc, the free "demo" version on shapez.io includes everything that was in the first version of the game, it just doesn't have all the extra content from the later paid Steam version.). They seriously need to overhaul this system. I get why they have it. My avatar doesn't need to look tired and I don't need psychological tricks for Luka to encourage me not to use resources that are limited. Obviously the processing required is immense, and if used for therapeutic effect, they had to think of a creative way to get you to put the app away that doesn't use king.com techniques. Well, to be honest, it is not a crowdfunded game that a smart or charismatic guy persuade people and sell them empty dream. Investors of the game is king.com , riot games, twitch founder, etc and they invested over 20 M $ so I am sure they already have a working prototype to show investors, etc otherwise they would not invest that much money, considering they are the original investors, to begin with.
