I’ll assume you’re on Windows. In that case, file shredding is done by Windows’ sdelete package from system internals (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/sdelete). Yeah, it does that pretty often, unfortunately. Here's the reason. Unlike macOS and Linux, which have built-in command-line shredding features (rm -P on macOS and shred on Linux), Windows doesn't have a built-in command to shred files. So, I have to bundle sdelete64.exe from Microsoft System Internals along with Picocrypt in order to provide a secure shredding function. Wipe Free Space only deletes the remainders of files already deleted. Existing system restore points won`t be touched.
