It's no surprise that virtual watch party tools and platforms exploded in popularity over the past year. With limited things to go out and do to spend time together, watching movies and shows together virtually was an easy activity to do with friends. These tools aren't new. Just going to get in a plug for Scener here. It's a Chrome plugin that lets you host Netflix watch parties. It syncs the movie for everyone watching and adds text and video chat. Source: about 3 years ago
You can see the Roku Channel channels at https://www.roku.com/whats-on/the-roku-channel. There's a very similar app called Pluto TV. Both of them are free and offer both on-demand and "live" channels with a guide similar to cable.
