  • An urgent question about downvotes on my feed
Perhaps. I am looking at https://saidit.net/, Quora, and other platforms as well. Source: 12 months ago

What's the criteria you'd need to be met for "something comparable"? Because I'd say running our own https://saidit.net/ site would be pretty identical. Source: 12 months ago
  • Rabbit Hole is a simple PhpBB forum where users can request their own subforum.
I love IRC but it serves a slightly different purpose. It isn't threaded and it sacrifices permanency for instantaneousness. In my opinion, a forums and chat rooms compliment each other. Saidit is one good Reddit alternative that implements IRC. It's based on Reddit's code but with some modifications. Every page has an embedded IRC box specific to that subcommunity. For Reddit alternatives, it looks like https://saidit.net/ (https://github.com/libertysoft3/saidit) and https://phuks.co/ (https://github.com/Phuks-co/throat) could be viable alternatives. They're open source, have the UX features we desire (threaded, voting, sorting, collapsing). Source: 12 months ago
  • Updates and next steps after reddit admins issued a threat last night to moderators who continue to protest site leadership
Someone already did it - it's called saidit and it works well but very few people have gone there so far. Source: 12 months ago

  • 6 Tools To Help Keep Your Dependencies And Code More Secure
Have you thanked a maintainer of an open-source project you use today? If not, go ahead and reach out to them on social media and say thank you. Does that scare you a little bit? That's OK, why not share their project on social media, sponsor them on GitHub or Open Collective, write or film a tutorial, file a great bug report, pick up one of the good-first-bugs, or star their project on GitHub? These are just some... - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
  • The Lack of Compensation in Open Source Software Is Unsustainable
There have been steps forward in the direction of making donation easier: https://github.com/sponsors , which can serve as a "fiscal host." The advantage here is that the default rule at law for how a group of developers working together will be treated is partnership, which means joint and several liability. Working with a fiscal host partitions individual liability from group liability. But there are still open... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Are there any FinTech/Incubator companies specialized for Co-ops?
Are there any FinTech or Incubators out there to fund Co-ops? I am thinking of how https://opencollective.com/ operates for Open Source and Non-Profits. Source: 7 months ago
  • Open Collective ( Exactly what we need)
You know when you envision an idea, and along the way you see someone who made this idea a reality, well, opencollective.com is exactly that. Source: 10 months ago
  • Coding Education for All: Join us in supporting The Odin Project
Going forward, The Odin Project will be completely funded by community donations through Open Collective. A platform designed for transparently collecting and managing funds for open-source projects just like ours.
