Maybe download the installers for Fedora & Tumbleweed and boot to the USB Drive you install the .iso file on to 'try' a distro first instead of destroying you current setup for the totally unknown world of linux. Others have recommended shows like you asked, I'm going to recommend a kid-centric book/audiobook service called Epic (getepic.com).
