• New to Roku after finally cutting the cable cord, 2 questions.

  "Question 2: I bought two Roku Ultras" - You activate both Rokus on the same account on roku.com. I've had a Roku Ultra for some time and recently bought a Roku Express 4K for the guest bedroom for visiting relatives. When I activated the new Roku on my account it automatically duplicated all my apps on to the new one. But test each app, a few required me to log in on the new Roku. Source: about 1 year ago

  Can something similar be done on roku.com? I tried following your steps for this video https://therokuchannel.roku.com/watch/67ca18fb4816521db4f188855569c21e but I noticed the type is not hls but mp4. • Just got this 50” roku sharp tv and tried setting up last night only to be met with this message everytime i try to click a channel. It’s saying there’s an “excellent” internet and wifi connection and yet nothing works on it. i have tried everything in the book including 2 factory resets i’m lost

• Unauthorized Roku charges through my Paypal account.

  Easier said than done with an elderly parent, but have your mom go to roku.com, reset her password, and give you the password. Then you should be able to go in and remove any payment method (presumably your PayPal), cancel any subscriptions, etc. Source: over 1 year ago

  It's not free, but I'm a big fan of JRiver Media Center and have been using it for many years. It is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Your license will last forever, but you do need to pay for major version upgrades (once-per-year). I'm an audiophile with a substantial library and I'm personally happy to support efforts like this, but I get that paying isn't for everyone. Source: about 1 year ago

• Why can’t they abstract?

  I suspect another commercial product, JRiver Media Center, might be more flexible than Mezzmo (less arbitrary about what you can and can't do), but it sounds like the Android and Android TV client is probably a mess. I've never done a setup with it. Source: over 1 year ago

• program for ripping CDs with correct metadata

  Many media players support ripping 1 disc at a time at least. Even Windows Media player can rip to wave and FLAC. Foobar2000 is a good option here. I personally have my library in JRiver, which isn't free, but I've been happily using it for many years. Source: over 1 year ago
