Protect yourself by first pulling your FICO score (go to MyFico and pull your own score, and you can get a coupon from retailmenot.com) and shop around. You can shop around for rates without a hard pull so you know how much car you can afford for the interest rate you would qualify for with that FICO. I made this post a few months ago regarding how the extension was just disabled on a site I had accessed. I checked trusted sites, and there was nothing there.
