I'm in no position to give advice but I felt that having a good CV and people skills definitely helped me. I used resume.io for my CV and cover letter, and can definitely recommend it. I have previously worked as a manager in a different industry and used to receive 1-2 CV's a day, a good looking CV really stands out amongst the pile of terrible ones. Definitely look at it. It's made by bikers but anyone could use it, the tag line is no more straight roads. You put in where you wanna go and if you want motorways, a quick way that is no motorways or twisty roads and it plans it all.
