Once you get into it, the power of subgroups, and lookahead/behind processing beats some of the mental gymnastics you would need to go to code it out in your language of choice. i’m a professional developer and I just relearn it every time I need it, which is about once or twice a year, but depending on someone’s specialty they may swim around in it all day. Funk Software's Search My Files (SMF). Uses CRC calculation to find exact duplicates. It does a two stage match up. Files need to be exact size matches, then it does a CRC calc on these files.You do need to be careful as it prechecks by doing spot CRC calculations to speed things up and some files (in my experience e-books) this may be incorrect and generate false duplicates.
