  • 8 days downtime: Cloudflare r2 subscription bug ruins my business
It's a hard lesson to learn like this, but it's a learning moment nonetheless. You don't rely on your provider to make backups for business-critical stuff like this, you need to manage it (and test!) it yourself. rclone[1] supports tons of storage providers. If you get access back and recover your business, start making backups onto other providers. [1] https://rclone.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 5 hours ago

  • Ask HN: Best modern file transfer/synchronization protocol?
Seconding rsync and syncthing. The server could expose an smb or nfs share, the client could mount it, and then sync to that mount. Rsync over ssh also works, if you do not want to run smb/nfs. This is also a cool tool https://rclone.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago

  • Attempted to setup windows-linux dual boot on my PC and screwed it all up - please help
Dual boot is ssooo previous decades. Let me introduce you to WSL, Windows Subsystem for Linux, now you can run Linux (including GUI) seamlessly from within windows. No dual boot, no sacrifice to security with legacy boot, no restarting to use apps and tools from the other OS, use windows and Linux truly side by side. Source: 11 months ago
