This could be the OAuth2 Proxy or it could be your ingress controller or API gateway. Another alternative might be skipping the dashboard for a multi-cluster management tool like Rancher. You may want to try out the regolith-linux DE, its gnome+i3 sort of mixed together. https://regolith-linux.org/ Its a bit unusual in some ways compared to 'normal' gnome and i3.
