  Before making a large commitment, I'd try out programming, and see if it is something you enjoy and have an aptitude for. There's a large number of online resources for it.   That being said, I would recommend you at least learn some basic programming on your own first, just to confirm it’s something you enjoy and have the aptitude for.   Could solve Project Euler problems in Lua - aka, the easiest programming language to learn https://projecteuler.net/ Alternatively, you could get a homeschool math textbook. They're written differently because the assumption is that the kid is going to have to teach themselves, and as such they are significantly more thorough and easy to understand.
