If you can swing it from a financial perspective, something like MIM PAM is awesome for managing privileged access. Similar in function to Azure AD PIM, it basically creates just-in-time privileged access for on-prem AD that is audited and can be controlled via workflow. It takes a project to implement though, and it fundamentally changes the way people do operations, so expect some bitching from operations. Source: almost 2 years ago
