• glad to see IRC is still alive and kicking... but downloading files via xdcc pops up the prompt to accept the file, which automatically sends the file, but it is unable to connect to the irc user (connection timed out) (my firewall is off)

  Some forums suggest this as an alternative. Looks like there's a free tier to play with. This may be much simpler than running your own VPS (although learning how to do this gives you a hell of a lot of power in terms of doing other things you might want to do). Source: 6 months ago

  As for music, I use a spotify premium account to do a remote listening session. It's been my best solution so far. A friend of mine uses watch2gether.com, its a great free option to integrate music and video streaming. It's not ideal for a whole host of reasons, if you ask me, but it IS free and simple.   Do: - Give your players some direction as to what they're supposed to do or where they can go. - Let your players help lead the story and invent their characters. - Use a soundtrack. It helps a lot!
