  For me, one of the best roguelites is Nuclear Throne. They have permadeath, they have procedural levels, the have difficulty peaks but all is set correctly. All the progress come on the skills.   3.The only way I've come across to document the amount of time spent is to use timesheets or time tracking softwares. Some examples of time tracking softwares are Toggl, Hubstaff, and Time Doctor.
