To preface this, I've been playing around with AI-assisted novel writing for a while, having used HoloAI and NovelAI quite extensively, and playing around with KoboldAI and the Nerys and Erebus models they've trained. So far, my impression had been that the quality of the locally hosted models didn't quite live up to the paid offerings, coming down to (presumably) less finetuned models and less capable GUIs.
