An alternative for Photo cloud storage is tripup.app. Client + server code is open source. It's a hosted service but with self-hosted version coming soon. Currently available on iOS right now but with plans for Android support soon. Source: over 2 years ago
For what its worth, I built tripup.app precisely because I didn’t want to lose access to my photos and be beholden to a big company like Google/Apple. Hence the code is fully open source (client and server code), so you have access to the server-side code and API already and don't have to wait for it to shut down.
