Easier said than done, obviously, but try out websites like Frontend Mentor to build your design and JS skills or apply to jobs on NoCSOK which is a site that’s emphasizes junior dev jobs that don’t require CS degrees.   I don’t know if this is any help, but there is a site called flexjobs dot com. (Not affiliated, just sharing information). They specialize in remote/telecommuting/ flexible schedule positions. It’s all on the up and up, it’s a real company, and the jobs posted are real jobs, not scams.
