  • Show HN: Mapping almost every law, regulation and case in Australia
It is really cool and useful. Interesting that you were able to gather enough data from users to make it work. I guess it was much less useful in the beginning? I thought of making something similar with data from https://musicbrainz.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
  • apostrophes ’ vs '
What do you use to tag your music? I imagine if you use a consistent piece of software (mp3tag, musicbrainz picard), they're going to do it the same way. Or for example, maybe musicbrainz.org allows people to enter metadata in their database in UTF-8, so it's possible you might get different answers from there even though you're using a standard piece of software. I imagine something like picard could use a search... Source: 5 months ago
  • HD Sour Album Cover?

  • Music Streaming Server that works with folders ?
When it comes to MusicBrainzPicard, it pulls data directly from https://musicbrainz.org/. If you are finding music you have that isn't listed in the database, you could help out by contributing to the database so that everyone gets access to that music. Source: 10 months ago
  • Where’s everyone going for the protest? Low key sweating because Reddit is my fav Kpop space.
While this doesn't help with replacing the discussion you get on reddit, might I suggest people spend some time contributing to their favourite artists on https://musicbrainz.org/ ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musicbrainz )? Many services & apps use MusicBrainz data, so you could help your favourites by making sure the information for their entries on MusicBrainz is as complete and accurate as possible! • Why does Spotify combine singles like this?
Yeah but those would be official releases? Like if you went to discogs.com, you would be able to find those, along with release date, tracklist etc. I don't think thats the case for the example I'm making here. Source: 5 months ago
  • [TOMT][2000s] Eltro - Looking for a place to Stream or Legally Download MP3s of This Long Lost Treasure
They only have 2 songs on Spotify, and my friend helped me find a website where I can buy used copies of their CDs from other users, but I don't know that site well (discogs.com), so I am hesitant. Source: 5 months ago

I hear what you are saying about up-sampling and you are probably right to be suspicious. a great resource for checking this type of thing is discogs.com. Source: 5 months ago

  • Help me get a copy of a Louis Armstrong song?
My father had an amazing record collection, it was all Jazz. I remember he had a Louis Armstrong song called "Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die." I've searched and searched for this song and I see other versions (on discogs.com for example) but never Louis'. Source: 9 months ago
