You might look at the BBC micro:bit board that was designed to teach programmaing for school-age students, and has a large tutorial system and hardware add-ons built around it. As with the Raspberry Pi, the board alone is out of stock in most places, but you can buy a mini "kit" for a few dollars more, for example at parallax in the usa for $20, in stock.
