Long answer, you should probably just use regular auth but you could get creative and find other ways to do get around it. For example, when the user purchase the ad removal you send them an email with a customized link that when clicked it sets a cookie on your site that you can check and hide the ads. The key difference here being that this is two way hashing so passwords can be decrypted. In reality, there are a lot of attack vectors like MITM, event logging or sometimes straight up storing data in plaintext.
