Hi guys, you don't actually need to get a new motherboard to use lightburn on a k40. Check out meerk40t, an awesome free k40 whisperer replacement which is 100 times better. This in itself is a great achievment by the programmer David Olsen, but what makes it amazing is that you can run the software as a kind of Ruida emulator and it will turn your k40 into a ruida machine and then lightburn can connect to it. I used a Raspberry Pi and a Protoneer GRBL CNC Hat to make a small controller for a 3018. I ran Laserweb on it which can handle 3 axis routing and lasering. You can tie it to external drivers to run the bigger steppers. Source: over 2 years ago
