I have my Synology NAS on the network and use Kodi on the Shield. Both devices need to have static IP's and NFS setup. I have noticed some odd gaps. One being Home Inventory software. Multiple great options for Windows and Mac. Linux options are basically self host a web app or do the same thing with a spreadsheet.
