I run Kodi as the interface for all my media servers on the 2019 Pro without issue, tho I also use MCM to setup all my metadata manually with my content as I rip it (not the internal scrappers & Kodi only reads it/nevr changes anything) so I'm in control of everything it downloads & the size thereof. Kobos[1] and Pocketbooks[2] are a lot more open than Kindles. AFAIK you can transfer .epub files into both devices and these epubs are perfectly readable via the stock OS.
