As far as I know, MARY is the most user-friendly platform that supports German. I've only ever worked with a custom-built system designed for Japanese ALS patients, so I'm afraid I don't have enough personal experience to tell you more. Source: almost 3 years ago

Brilliant. obviously, they'll work with your screen reader. If you want to turn documents into audio with them, Balabolka will provide you m4b's for apple or mp3's for other platforms, all with imbedded text/lyrics. Source: over 1 year ago
