For the most part reddit and CommonMark are the same. There are very few things that do change, but for most uses, reddit does use a fairly clean markdown from the original. I think it's a good idea to write a blog post using Markdown. But if you have text to reuse, it doesn't make sense to copy and paste it into an article every time. If you want to modify that text, you will have to modify all markdown files.
