By the time the 514 was built, Singer had gone heavily into plastic gears, and the 514 has several. They usually last 30-40 years, though with excellent care they may last a bit longer. Trouble is that once the gears have to be replaced, it costs far more than the machine is worth because the whole machine has to be recalibrated and the person who does that work is fighting against the idiosyncratic wear... Cool! If you have the manual, too, I would first use it to get familiar with the controls. Shame on Canon for not providing this anymore for very old cameras; you can get it online, however, from manualslib.com . Then, personally, I would take the ISO to 100, or even 80, if that looks better. Usually on these old cameras, ISO at levels higher than like 200 make your photos look like they came from a security... Source: about 1 year ago
Sometimes free service manuals are available at manualslib.com and the site is nice because the manuals are easily searchable. I don't find anything relevant ATM for models 6233/34/35. Archive.org can also be a source, but they are best searched externally, and for me, the listings will be down the page below more commercial sources. Again, no luck this time.
