It works by decrypting proprietary discs to transfer codecs from the formats VOB and M2TS into MKV, preserving the necessary data without doing any lossy codec conversion. If you don’t have strict demand on the output video format (since it’s only limited to MKV),...

  • Beta Key?
Just re-download the install package from makemkv.com and run it, it will ask to remove old install then allow you to reinstall then the key resets. (do this until the new key is released). Then down the road if you like it you can always get the paid lifetime license. Source: 5 months ago
  • It is important that ebooks be sold without DRM
If you haven’t already, you should check out MakeMKV. You can buy it or use it free with the beta keys, and it should solve your problem. https://makemkv.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Need help from someone smarter than myself
You’ll need a Blu-ray or UHD Friendly Blu-ray drive. Visit https://makemkv.com https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/ to learn more about it as they can explain it better. Also there is lots of support on YouTube: the is Lon.TV, He makes an entire series on PleX https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCZHp4d1HnIvqJPAmMooCKOHieLdi3I7o. Source: 12 months ago
  • I'm looking for software that I can use to categorise my audiobook and DVD rips.
Or you could use Makemkv and Extract audio coppy. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Completely new to this...please go easy. I want to be able to play my music and movie collection throughout my home and have a few questions to get me going.
Plex doesn't support disc image formats like ISO, so you would have to extract the video itself before Plex could read them (e.g. With MakeMKV). Source: about 1 year ago

  • File conversion tool
I've always used soundconverter for this purpose, but I don't think it has a command line option: https://soundconverter.org/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How do you organize your music?
For that, I've tried using SoundConverter. While it does work, more or less, it is quite bugged - sometimes it just puts files in random places, it can't handle album icons, and when there are issues with tags (No tags, tags with spelling issues, tags with encoding issues, you name it) it does weird things. • FOSS tool to batch extract audio from videos?
I wonder if SoundConverter can do it https://soundconverter.org. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • mass converting flac to low file size mp3 without much loss in quality?
Https://soundconverter.org/ would do the job. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Any good software for lowering MP3 bitrate for multiple files and keeping metadata?
Doesn't get much easier than SoundConverter, though it might be Linux only. Source: over 2 years ago
