Both LyX and TeXmacs are nice pieces of software, although TeXmacs has my personal preference for reasons that I will explain. Note that LaTeX dominates on social media and "LaTeX groupies" have been bashing both programs and especially TeXmacs. So be aware that what you read there is often incorrect and that it is best to try the programs out for yourself.
Both LyX and TeXmacs users believe that it is more user friendly to actually see the text that you are typing instead of having to "program your document" as with LaTeX. LyX is only wysiwym (what you see is what you mean) in the sense that it shows a reasonable preview of what you will get on paper. TeXmacs is fully wysiwyg (what you see is what you get), which allows you to fine-tune the precise typesetting inside the editor.
What struck me about TeXmacs is its sheer beauty: the fact that you consistently see your document in a nicely typeset way feels like driving in a Mercedes instead of a Volkswagen. The keyboard shortcuts for typing mathematics are also very intuitive and efficient. For instance, "- >" produces a right arrow and "a TAB" produces the Greek letter alpha. I have been taking live notes with TeXmacs, which is both faster and better than a pen!
What is more, TeXmacs provides a built-in picture editor, a presentation mode, interfaces to Python, R, and other computer algebra systems. The Html export is also extremely good: see the personal website of its author for many examples.
My conclusion: TeXmacs > LyX >> LaTeX.
