  My favorite free plasmid/cloning software is A Plasmid Editor (ApE). It's a bit old school, but so is Snapgene. Snapgene has a few extra bells and whistles and sometimes nicer graphics, but otherwise ApE has all the core functions you need. Source: about 1 year ago

  We're not here to help you pirate software. Either pay, or use a legit freeware alternative. I've used A Plasmid Editor (ApE) for years, it's a great alternative and plenty powerful for doing basic in silico cloning. Source: almost 2 years ago

  ApE - A plasmid editor is a free program that you could use to open sequence files and then search for the sequences. Not great when you compare it to paid programs, but it works. Source: almost 3 years ago

• Applied Molecular Genetics

  ApE is what I use to do both these things. Paste in the plasmid sequences, got these off Addgene but they may not be the exact ones y’all’re using pUC19 and pGFP Use ctrl+F to design a primer and then read the distance between them. Source: about 3 years ago
