  • Self hosted billing platform
Hi, I own a small online business and was wondering if anything knew of a good online billing platform, hosting for recurring payments. I saw one online (killbill.io) but I was wondering if there was any other alternatives around. Thanks! Source: over 1 year ago
  • Show HN: List of Stripe Alternatives
Great list, thank you. One option is to always have more than one payment processor activated. Splitting payments across providers early on doesn’t have to be a bad thing. There are libraries focused in billing and payment management and leaving the payment processing only to stripe, etc. These libraries that can handle multiple payment providers and help reduce dependency on the a single payment provider for... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

  • Ask HN: How to design database schema for usage based billing?
I know it feels like overkill, but I’d recommend either outsourcing (even Stripe has usage-based billing if you can keep your updates under 100/s) or using something off-the-shelf like https://killbill.io. I know it seems like a simple problem, but billing systems quickly turn into Eldridge horrors even if you have the best intentions and it’s always nicer to have someone else to maintain that for you. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

Seems like every time there's a negative Stripe story on here, the inevitable question, "any alternatives?" gets asked. Hell, I was tempted to ask myself. Instead, I decided to search hn.algolia.com to see for myself what others have recommended in the past. • Is it GoCardless an accepted mean of payment ?
I live in England as a guardian, and the agency collects the License Fee (aka rent) + Service charge through this "payment institution" called GoCardless. Https://gocardless.com/ I don't know which other services they provide, but basically what they require for me is to set up a pseudo Direct-Debit with them in which you give out your card details. The fact is that I have been in arrears for literaly one day,... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Is anyone interested in partnering up? (Europe)
With that being said, I found today a competitor in this space: https://gocardless.com. I think I can still offer bank transfer payments for way lower than them, but let's see. Source: almost 2 years ago
