I always use the 「いちばん大切なのは楽しむことです」(the most important thing is to have fun) phrase when it comes to language learning,normally I would watch anime or play some video games,when there are words or phrases that I don't know I would use japandict.com most of the time or maybe looking for pitch accent patterns. If you care about translation accuracy, then my subs aren't for you, because I rush them, and not only that, I don't know jack shit in Japanese, and use the manga release as a base for my subs. For the parts that aren't included in the manga I use the DeepL translator service together with japandict.com to understand the part.
