A couple of things that I have found helpful are doing jigsaws on jigsawexplorer.com and resonant breathing (not at the same time). There are resonant breathing apps that help you keep pace with longer exhales and shorter inhales. For me trying to match my breathing is a good distraction without the stress of TV. My recommendation is Redstone Games' Crosswords Free app for the wide variety of puzzles. Levels of difficulty range from Easy to Hard, and some 5x5 puzzle packs are rated Very Easy, suitable for children and beginners.
