I always use the 「いちばん大切なのは楽しむことです」(the most important thing is to have fun) phrase when it comes to language learning,normally I would watch anime or play some video games,when there are words or phrases that I don't know I would use japandict.com most of the time or maybe looking for pitch accent patterns.
